Help. My intake manifold is cracked. What should I do?

The intake manifold on my JRSC is cracked. What should I do? I talked to a few local shops and they said I could use some "liquid aluminum epoxy". I have also heard from many sources that some of the older JRSC kits had these problems. They also said that JR will usually replace them. I called JR today, and they said it will cost me $300. The guy told me that my ITR kit came with a bracket and that the manifold should not have cracked, so they wont replace it. What should I do?

How long ago did you get the kit?

They usually warranty parts for like 2 years I think, and the blower carries a 100k mile warranty.

It seems like JR is getting a little poorer on its customer service. When Sean was there service was great, I still need to send him a thank you card.

maybe I have next week a used intake manifold for sale. What engine type do you have, just to check if my manifold will fit.

same thing happened to me, Shawn took care of me after a little haggling... the support broke in my case though...

Most aluminum castings can be braze welded using a common propane torch. I've seen it done (although I haven't tried it myself yet)Check out this link. http://durafix.com/

have the rods and a cracked manifold... never got around to trying it though...

I was able to seal the crack on mine with some high temp RTV. I ran for 9 months before they released the bracket, so I think the crack started before it was installed. Mine was one of the ones that had a resonance problem that the support braket fixed.

I had trouble getting a good bond onto the metal until I cleaned it off with carb cleaner. It wasn't a 100% seal, but I would have had to remove the intake to fix it completely.

You may want to loosen the SC belt, then loosen and tighten the bracket bolts before you do anything to fix the crack. It's that belt tension that want's to rip the intake off the head and the support bracket is the only thing keeping it from doing so.
